Jesus Loves Me

Jesus Loves Me
(William Bradbury)

Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak but He is strong

cho: Yes, Jesus loves me
     Yes, Jesus loves me
     Yes, Jesus loves me
     The Bible tells me so

Jesus loves me He who died
Heaven's gates to open wide
He will wash away my sin
Let His little child come in

Jesus loves me He will stay
Close beside me all the way
If I love Him when I die
He will take me home on high

Jesus loves me He will stay
Close beside me all the way
He's prepared a home for me
And someday His face I'll see

The Evangelical Church School Hymnal (c 1931) includes this
verse credited to Bradbury:

Jesus loves me! Loves me still,
Tho' I'm very weak and ill;
From His shining throng on high,
Comes to watch me where I lie.

On a separate page it has the following verses with no author credit
only the comment "the favorite hymn of China".

Jesus loves me, this I know
For the flowers tell me so;
Tell me by their fragrance sweet,
Lying all around our feet.

Jesus loves me, this I know,
For the birds they tell me so;
Tell me by their merry song,
Singing now the whole day long.

Jesus loves me this I know,
For the sunbeams tell me so;
Tell me by their gladsome light,
Shining clear from morn till night.

Jesus loves me this I know,
For the raindrops tell me so;
Tell me as they gently fall
On the trees, the flow'rs, and all.

I would guess these "nature" verses would be easier to sell in a
non-Christian country. RR

note: When I was a (non-Christian) kid, we sang:

Jesus hates me, this I know
'Cause my rabbi told me so RG
