This notation is pretty simple; dark circles mean covered holes; empty circles mean uncovered holes; a '+' below means to blow harder to get the upper octave; a '#' below means this note is too low for the whistle chosen and you'll have to fake it :) The author of this program always plays accidentals by closing holes, so you'll never see half-covered holes.
When I was starting, I found notation like this to be very helpful, and I know plenty of people who have trouble reading music who find this notation easier. Good luck!

Battle Cry of Freedom (George Root) Yes, we'll rally 'round the flag, boys, We'll rally once again, Shouting the battle cry of Freedom, We will rally from the hillside, We'll gather from the plain Shouting the battle cry of Freedom. cho: The Union forever, hurrah, boys, hurrah! Down with the traitor, up with the star! While we rally 'round the flag, boys, rally once again Shouting the battle cry of Freedom. We are springing to the call Of our brothers gone before Shouting the battle cry of Freedom, And we'll fill the vacant ranks With a million Free men more, Shouting the battle cry of Freedom. We will welcome to our numbers The loyal, true and brave, Shouting the battle cry of Freedom, And although he may be poor He shall never be a slave, Shouting the battle cry of Freedom. cho: So we're springing to the call From the East and from the West Shouting the battle cry of Freedom And we'll hurl the rebel crew From the land we love the best Shouting the battle cry of Freedom cho: RG
